Sustainability

Our Commitment to Community and the Environment

At Victoria Centre, we have made a commitment to helping the community and surrounding areas as well as to our environmental impact. Each year, thousands of pounds are raised for deserving causes by our customers, employees, and retailers. Our staff volunteer regularly to help neighbourhood organisations and provide their skills to those in need. Our dedication to sustainability is evident in every aspect of our operations. From energy-efficient lighting and waste reduction initiatives, we’re paving the way for a greener shopping destination. We carry out a number of activities to make sure we have a more sustainable future. Together, we can make a positive impact on our planet, one purchase at a time.

OUR CHARITY PARTNERS

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE HOSPICE

Founded by a group of local Nottingham people in 1980, Nottinghamshire Hospice is there for anyone who needs them. As Victoria Centre’s Charity of the Year, they provide unwavering support and care during life’s most difficult moments. Your Emmet Clock donations help make this vital work possible.

OUR CHARITY PARTNERS

Cashforkids

We have been partnered with Cashfordkids since 2014 – helping us to provide Christmas to every child. Their mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in our communities who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs.

We have put out The Giving Box during every festive season to give our customers the opportunity to donate a new and unwrapped gift. So far, we have collected 5,879 gifts and we hope to collect even more.

KEY INITIATIVES

PREVENT

Our waste removal journey is consistently kept up to date meaning we know exactly where our waste is going.

RE-USE

Supporting our retailers with the implementation of buy-back schemes. Including John Lewis & Partners and River Island.

RECYCLE

100% of our waste is diverted away from landfill and instead turned to its own renewable energy supply.

RECOVER

We have 44 electric vehicle charing points for our shoppers to use. In support of leading the transition into sustainable energy.

DISPOSE

We provide clear locations for waste disposal throughout our centre and service road ensuring waste is disposed of correctly.

AIM

Our aim is to be the most sustainable and eco-friendly environment we possibly can, with support from our retailers and shoppers.

Small Changes, Big Impact

Sustainability matters — and at Victoria Centre, we’re proud to support retailers that are making it easier than ever to give back. Whether it’s recycling old clothes, refilling your favourite fragrance, or rescuing surplus food, there are plenty of ways to shop more sustainably right here in the centre.

Our environmental policy

Victoria Centre recognises the potential impact our operations may have on the environment as well as customers, stores and the local community. For this reason, our main goal is to undertake business activities responsibly while respecting and taking into account relevant socio-environmental factors at stake.

In line with new Government legislation, we also ensure all recyclable materials are properly sorted and disposed of in accordance with national environmental regulations, specifically in relation to dry recyclable materials, food waste and non-recyclable waste.

Committed to Environmental Excellence

We’re also proud holders of independently assessed ISO14001, which indicates the environmental management linked with security, cleaning, energy, waste, and other appropriate activities are not only being met, but we have steps in place for genuine continuous improvement for our environmental policy.
