We're proud to positively impact our community in a number of ways. Sustainability

At Victoria Centre, we have made a commitment to helping the community and surrounding areas as well as to our environmental impact. Each year, thousands of pounds are raised for deserving causes by our customers, employees, and retailers. Our staff volunteer regularly to help neighbourhood organisations and provide their skills to those in need. Our dedication to sustainability is evident in every aspect of our operations. From energy-efficient lighting and waste reduction initiatives, we're paving the way for a greener shopping destination. We carry out a number of activity's to make sure we have a more sustainable future. Together, we can make a positive impact on our planet, one purchase at a time.

Our detailed environmental policy can be found here, but below are some of our key initiatives.

Cashforkids

We have been partnered with Cashforkids since 2014, this helps us to provide Christmas to every child. Their mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people in our communities who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs.

We have put out The Giving Box during every festive season to give our customers the opportunity to donate a new and unwrapped gift. So far, we have collected 5,879 gifts and we hope to collect even more.

What we are doing...

International E-Waste Day

In 2022, we hosted a free E-waste collection point on the lower mall and gave customers the opportunity to recycle their electrical waste. Over a third of UK households hold onto at least one redundant small electrical appliance that has the potential to be recycled. That’s a staggering 418,107 small appliances

Big City Clean

We continue to support the ‘Big City Clean’ programme as part of our ESG strategy, with the Purple Bag scheme to help litter pick the public domain, with a focus on the external areas close to the centre. This is achieved by donating time to support a cleaner city and improve the customer journey into Nottingham, alongside “it’s in Nottingham” and linked to our "Heart of the City" campaign for 2023.

EV Chargers

The 44 EV chargers, which include 32 x 7kw BP Pulse chargers and 12 x Tesla Superchargers, are an innovative addition to our economic development efforts, as well as a supporter of our commitment to sustainability. This also means that we are already meeting future demand and there is still available capacity to introduce more should the need arise.

Volunteering

Upcoming volunteering at the Big City Farm CR Day booked for the 12th of September. Supporting the local community with the up keep of the farm and build city relationships with lower economy demographic.

Last summer we volunteered at Eastwood Academy in which we created a wildlife pond and vegetable patch with a local school. We continue to work with the school to monitor the progress of this area and benefit of the students. Supplied more seeds to grow produce for next year.

Our Community

Here are Victoria Centre we are here to support our team, SWAN (Successful women always network) and Boys Cry 2 groups open networking and support groups created in 2023.

We have now had success stories for both groups changing the lives of our teams, which gives us a plat-form to help our teams' personal needs and improve overall health. Team needs like essentials and hygiene products are still available and are proving a great benefit to our team, following the increase in the cost of living. We felt this has supported a reduction in sickness, improving overall health and engagement.

We are always continuing to improve our sustainability and impact on the community outside and within our centre.

Our environmental policy

Victoria Centre recognises the potential impact our operations may have on the environment as well as customers, stores and the local community. For this reason, our main goal is to undertake business activities responsibly, while respecting and taking into account relevant socio-environmental factors at stake.
